WDs Get Transmission Rebuild Business No Matter Type of Vehicle According to IMR Repair Shop Tracking Study
Whether it is a domestic, Asian or European vehicle, a majority of independent repair shops buy transmission rebuild kits from the warehouse distributor, according to IMR’s Repair Shop Tracking Study. In regard to European vehicles, 64.2 percent of independent repair shops purchase transmission rebuild kits from the WD, while 26.4 percent go to the retailer and 9.4 percent call the dealer first.
“Across the board, in regard to transmission rebuild kits, WDs are the primary choice of independent repair shops,” said Bill Thompson, president and CEO of IMR Inc. “However, for European vehicles, we do see more shops turning to the dealer for transmission rebuild kits than we did for domestic (8.8 percent) and Asian (8.8 percent) vehicles.”
